Advice
No sales talk: what actually saves, with the payback attached. Sometimes the answer is that you should buy nothing.

Fitting a radiator in an unheated room instead of insulating the pipes works against you. Take a 20 mm pipe, flow and return, along a wall in a 5 m room.
- The insulation costs about €100 and saves about €23.4 a year at a 50 °C water regime
- A small radiator costs more than €100 and is never paid back
- On top of that the loss from the uninsulated pipe simply continues
What actually saves
The figures below are orders of magnitude for an average home — do ask us what they mean in your case.
- A programmable thermostat: 15 to 25% off heating use. Keep 19 to 20 °C, and lower it at night and when away
- Thermostatic valves: another 10%, paid back in under 2 years
- Replacing a boiler older than 15 years with a condensing one: 15 to 35% energy gain
- A label-A circulator instead of label D: up to 80% less electricity
- Water-saving flush systems on every toilet: up to 66% less water, paid back in one to two years
- A shower is about 40 litres, a bath about 120 litres
Safety and maintenance
Two habits that cost little and prevent a lot of damage.
- Keep domestic hot water at 50 °C against legionella, and put a timer on it
- Open the safety valve in front of your tank once a month
- Have the boiler and tank serviced every year: fuel saving and safety
- Fit a sanitary expansion vessel to limit water use
